You mean if I knew then what I know NOW? Hmmmm

Probably, being as I have always been a sucker for the underdog.

But I would have done it differently. I never would have worked more hours than I spent with my family. That is time that can never be reclaimed.

And I NEVER would have pushed that bed that tore up my back and left me in this pain and with a disability for the rest of my life.

Probably not. I really like the patient care. But, there are so many other things I really don't like about the nursing profession. I don't like the hours, on-call, being away from my children, charting things over and over again. Pretty much the same things that frustrate everybody else frustrates me.

Of course, I would have done something else, and, at this time would be typing about the things I didn't care for about that job.

Default Well........
right now I would say yes, despite the direction the nursing profession seems to be headed towards. It certainly is a valuble learning experience, even if one day I head off into a diferent direction........like back to school, or somewhere else. I originally went back for engeneering, but ended up in nursing........bizzare huh? While medicine would be cool, the docs are getting creamed by insurance companies. I know way to many general/family/IM practice docs looking to bail out. The entire medical field.......is taking a dive IMO. So...........I would say yes no mater what. We all have the oppurtunity, to go back to school and try something else.

Not even a moment's hesitation--YES.

Never seriously wanted to do anything else. I've had rough spots when I wasn't sure I was good enough, but, if I retired tomorrow, I'd be back the next day holding babies.

Premies rule!!

Sadly no I would not be a nurse. I don't have the temperment to be a good nurse. It is not a question of intellegence, I am as smart or smarter than most of us, but I am real short on compassion. I went into nursing for the wrong reasons, which i won't bore you with now. I respect and admire the nurses i have worked with over the years, but I probably should have never been one of us.

Thank you Rosy. That is the most open and honest statement i've heard.I believe some of us are in denial
