Politics in Nursing

I am doing a paper on nursing and legislature that affects us... I am wondering, what are some topics in the legislature today that nurses find important??

Here are just a few that ANA is looking at:
Staffing ratios (California has legislated them, but our dear "governator" has put them on hold. :angryfire ) Contact the California Nurses Association, calnurse.org
Mandatory overtime. Contact ANA (nursingworld.org).
Extra money for nursing schools and grants for students.
And of course universal health care, which the Clinton Administration attempted to pass in Congress, but it failed. Contact ANA.

Hope this helps. Any issues in your state, contact your state nursing association. You're in NC, so contact the North Carolina State Nursing Association. It will show up in any search engine. Good luck!
