The problem I have with pro-life and pro-choice, is that those who are pro-life assume the pro-choice people are "pro-abortion" - and I seriously doubt you'll find any pro-choice people who are "pro-abortion".

I wish abortion wasn't necessary - but for some women, it is the only choice they feel they have. That choice should be respected. I'd rather see a woman have an abortion, than find a fetus in a trash bin somewhere.

Pro-choice is NOT pro-abortion.

I worked in a ER for 8 years. I saw a lot of child abuse. Where are all those "Pro-lifers" when it comes time to adopt unwanted children, or "special needs" children of crack or meth mothers? All talk, little action.

I hope women always have the right to choose and I will vote that way, always.

Blessings

The problem I have is the remarks folks make that pro-llife people DON'T adopt unwanted children or special needs children of addicted moms.

We do. And there are many organization, religious organizations, that do just that.

I didn't mean to press the 'thanks' button on your post. I did mean to quote it and respond.

I can make the same argument for any number of things that are illegal

For those of you who are against murder, don't murder

For those of you who are against discrimination, don't discriminate

For those of you against drunk driving, don't drive drunk.

For those of you against stealing, don't steal

For those of you against rape, don't rape.

Get my drift?

I believe that conception is the start of life.

I am pro-choice..however, my support is very limited.

To me, if a decision cannot be reached in 3 months gestation time, then the fetus, should have at minimum, a court's protection...this is regardless of the reason, rape, incest, health condition.

Just because a fetus cannot tell someone that it feels pain, I believe that it does, doesn't mean that it should be ignored...and I believe that this starts in week 8 to 12.

If the mother's life is in danger, then to me, the fetus needs to be treated no differently than if the mother wants the child. If a fetus cannot be delivered intact vaginally, then that is what a c-section is for.

Physicians that try to rush the process....need to lose their license.

My father witnessed in medical school during his residency...he was delivering a pre-termer at 31 weeks gestation...the mother was stable, the physician wanted to go home.

He 'manipulated" the fetus so much he TWISTED THE BABY'S HEAD OFF.

This was in the days where father's were in the waiting room and nurses kept their mouth's shut. Physician handed the BS excuse that baby was already deceased, etc...again, back in the day when people would buy anything.

I believe in a lot of things, I believe abortion happens, and I believe women should have a choice. I believe women leave unwanted newborns in trash bins - yep, that's a better choice than abortion (sarcasm). After working in an ER for 8 years, I believe in 11 year old girls pregnant by their abusive fathers - yep - I guess they should be made to bear this "life" within them - because we all know 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 etc... year old are well capable of supporting themselves and an infant or two!

Please, get real. I have no problem with your being "pro-life" - but guess what, I am pro-life too - I just choose to live in the real world, and believe in CHOICE.

Blessings

Well I never swore any oath and if I did I'd still believe in women's right to choose. Back in Nightingales' day so many women died from backyard abortions and from having too may children. Of course women from her background weren't aware or simply didn't want to acknowledge this and remained ignorant. I'd rather have abortions available than have to look after women dying of sepsis anyday. No one has the right to tell any person what they can and can't do with their own body.

Sometimes the whole abortion debate in this country seems so illogical. For some reason, people are compelled to place themselves and others into neat little groups; pro-choice vs. pro-life. Most people I have met and discussed this issue with do not fall into black/white groups, but are somewhere in the middle with the shades of gray. The extreme rhetoric on both sides of the issue muddy the waters.

Since it is 4 1/2 years old, the poll itself is not really able to altered or changed in composition or responses, as it's likely the OP has not posted to this site in nearly 10 months.

Feel free to discuss respectfully, however.

I'm not completely against abortion. However, I don't agree with the fact that a lot of times the father doesn't have a choice even tho he helped create it. I'm talking about the fathers that are perfectly capable of bringing a child up on their own.
