I have limited experience with the use of this drug. When I worked at the nursing home, we gave Merrinol to those little people who had zero appetite. I didn't notice a big difference with their appetite. I think that patients who need it, should be able to get it.

Here is something to think about : What would happen if the government legalized its uses and then taxed it the same way they do gas and cigarettes? Would the national debt be decreased? People are going to use it regardless if it is legal or not.

I agree with medical use (not abuse).

I've never used it myself, but I have no problem with decriminalization and taxing marijuana the way ETOH is taxed. I think that would stop much of the law - breaking.

I think that medical marijuana may come first, though, and I have a concern that the medically compromised person would have their marijuana 'diverted' from them.

I'm all for taxing it and taking the criminal element out of it, though.

Decriminalize it. Increase tax income from it's sale, increase farming jobs, decrease court cost w/ prosecution, decrease jail time R/T violation of its use & distribution (and perhaps allow for criminals who have commited serious crimes to fulfill their entire sentence vs. early release d/t overcrowding).

Also, I'd rather see a pothead any day than a drunk. JMO though

My mother died from cancer back in the 80's. Her onc took me aside and quietly suggested pot to deal with her nausea and loss of appetite. She adamently refused because it was illegal. If he had suggested a glass of wine she would have taken that. It ticks me off to no end that a possible treatment to alleviate my moms' suffering was out of her reach.

I think pot should be just as legal as alcohol anyway.:hatparty:

Absolutely. There is no reason in this day and age that someone should suffer because weed is illegal. We refine it and put it in a pill and give it to people to increase their appetite. Hemp was a good cash crop in this country until someone decided it should be illegal. Research hemp and you will find that our country is a little backwards about it. Think about it. Narcotics are illegal if you don't have a script. Alcohol is legal and look how many people that kills, including driving under the influence. Tobacco kills people and it's legal. I am a hospice nurse, and I think my patients have a right to any substance that's going to ease their suffering and let them have a peaceful death. If it means rolling up and smoking a dube then they should be able to. We have more compassion for our animals in this country than we do our citizens.

Yes. Period. My sister suffers from MS. She quietly told be a couple of years ago that she had started to use it. It does not eliminate but does help with her symptoms. My philosophy if it works, great....nothing else seems to be helping.
