yes, medicinal pot should be legalized. With 24 yrs nursing, I have seen a lot of suffering and pain that have been controlled with pot. Also, I have seen it used to increase the appetitie of leukemic patients.
We are inthis profession to help the sick...short term, or terminal. I can not see a nurse that would like to see a pt suffer. I have turned my back on many a pt who "light up"..morphine or pot, what is the difference?
My support is to all ill people who light up, I have rolled joints for a terminally ill friend..it gave him peace as he left this world to go to a better place.

Of course patients should have the legal right to use marijuana, (and aren't we all eligible to become patients at some time in our lives)?
I agree that decriminalization is the way to go, but how do you think our two new Supreme Court Justices feel about this?
I don't think the alleviation of suffering is a priority of the U.S. government at this time.....

Palliative care is my main job. I have seen patients suffer from their treatment, so why not legalize medical use. I live in Canada where we allow the bucal spray Sativex for MS patients. It has been legal since June 2005. I have been using Sativex since August 2005 for the pain management of MS. It does not leave me feeling high or euphoric, and allows me to get on with life.

I don't know why this is even an isue! How can you deny relief from a sick person? All of these poor chemo patients would really benefit. They'd have less pain, nausea and anxiety and more of an appetite. It should also be covered by insurance just like any other med!

no dout. i say retire in canada. at least their government still works for the people.

i too say yes for legalization of marijuana. impossible to over dose, way less side effects than anything we use to control pain now, cheap and easy noninvasive dosing just one puff or two. cheap is the key word here, our elected officials get more money from the drug companies to ever think about legalization. we dont need the justices to like it, just need to elect our representatives in the house and senate that will think more about the average joe and keep replacing the one that dont. time for those long term senators and seats in the house to move on.

YES!!! as for observing marijuana use in Cancer pt.s . i am in favor of how it works and definetly how the pt. feels after having it. I am a strong believer in a pt. feeling comfortable during their medical/surgical time in the hosp. and for long term. I am i favor of the pt. feeling less discomforts, esp. if the pt.is terminal.

Another who believes it should be decriminalized for everyone. So much better for the body than alcohol.

Thumbs up Re: Do you think patients should have the right to use medical marijuana?
I am sooo happy to see that so many of us have the same view on this subject !! I have a very good friend that suffered from cancer and many chemo and radiation treatments. If it wasnt for him being able to "hit his bong" he would'nt be with us today. It truly enabled him to eat, relax and get through it all and he has now been in remission for 4 years. AMEN to legalizing and taxing pot
