For those of you that use a wrist blood pressure cuff, which brand do you find is the most accurate for readings?

Thanks,

Good question....mine is not accurate at all, and I don't use it anymore.

i have never seen or heard of such a thing.

I have used one from Omron as well as one from CVS. They are ok for nonaccurate / noncritical BPs but they are not useful cardiac meds, or other situations that require more accurate measurements

I have an OMRON digital one that you inflate yourself. Its results are almost identical with what I get with my regular self BP cuff and Littman.

I tried it around my wrist just to see and got readings all over the map. I don't think wrist BP results correlate at all.

I like them, but I don't trust them.

I have a very accurate one. I use them as a screening tool however and if I get a reading out of the norm on goes the regular bp cuff and scope.;)

Oh yes mine is a Sanyo and costs about $90.00.

I personally do not like them. They are simple to apply and use for most people. While I dont think they are entirely accurate, I think they can be useful to detecting trends. Generally with almost any cuff I have used, even the expensive Dynamaps when the bp is really low or really high the accuracy decreases.

So while a good old fashioned cuff and stethoscope is preferable, for those who cannot use them a wrist cuff is definitely better than nothing at all. I personally would not use one in the hospital.
