I'm actually surprised that you would admit that you "thought being a nurse would be an excellent way to meet doctors to marry." Do the medical profession a huge favor and go into another profession. The last thing that nurses need is someone who has the guts to say that they're in nursing for the opportunity to marry a doctor. If you think that other staff and more importantly, your patients, don't see that you're in it for romance, you are sadly mistaken and one of these days you will be filling out the paperwork having had your license revoked because instead of caring for a patient, you were focusing on the cute doctor. Shame on you.

OK, I married a chiropractor. He has privileges at our hospital, but is not there regularly. If it weren't for him I would be crawling to work and back. As for the others, no, I wouldn't want to marry them. It's bad enough to suffer through a shift with them, so glad when I get to go home.

Good grief! I thought that this stereotype died with my grandmother's generation!

I had a great aunt who actually said something about me marrying a doctor 25 years ago, but in this day and age, I would have hoped for some progress! I'm currently married, going through a divorce, and NO, he isn't a doctor. I never even considered it.

Yea, the young ones are nice...but the older ones...forget it.

Nope ...not the ones that I have met or observed. The majority of them are arrogant and self absorbed.......the good ones are the minority in this group. I wonder why they took medicine as a profession .....this is a profession that you care about others???? so they must be thinking of money = doctor ?????

I do not think she is thinking way far off. this kind of things happened and I know nurses that are married to doctors or flight attendants married to pilots ----- this is a thing that can happen naturally . But to get into nursing to hooked up w/ a doctor mainly ------- now you must really be focus on your mission to go thru tough nursing school to get your man !!!! If you really want a doctor so bad .....................feed them !!!! specially the newly graduated doctors ----they are starving and no money but plenty of student loan bills !

Yes, I would marry a doctor... without question... who better to understand you and who better to support the joys and the stresses they encounter daily? I've been married to one of the most intelligent, kind, compassionate, and ethical person who happens to be a doctor(surgeon) for 31 years. If you are in nursing, it must be because you desire to minister to others. The same can be said for the majority of doctors whom I've come in contact for the last 35 yrs.. They're just people...with all of the emotional issues and responses that we all have.. what distinguishes all of us from the masses is how we handle stress. Above all things, professionalism which includes calm, compassionate care......

Only if it were my GYN because I have adored him for 21 years! But, to go into nursing to meet doctors? What a sad state this profession has gotten into.

I would not...ever. Most of them are incredibly full of themselves, and lack humility on any level. Who has time for this? Definately not me. So the answer is no.

Is this thread serious! I think of all the hours I spent studying books that weighed more than I did, schlepping to clinicals in the rain and snow (yes...uphill both ways!

...to become a professional in my own right, not to just get married to a doctor. Yikes!

I don't know if I shoul be appalled or saddened by this thread. I dated med students, residents, and doctors; but wanted to stay married to someone who was genuine and honestly, not married to their work. Successful doctors, and many professionals, are married first to their jobs and secondly to you, or the second wife, or the third wife, etc...

If you end up marrying a doctor and you are happy, I am happy for you. If you marry a doctor just for the prestige and the income...you have my pity.
