would you do this......

Nurses General Nursing

Hi All,

I am returning to work after being off for a few years. I have received 2 job offers, one for a mixed ICU and another for a SICU.

I am happy to have the offers but.....the hospital and position I really want has not called me.

The position I am hoping to get would be as a coordinator....and interestly enough I was able to find out the name of one of the other coordinators in the hospital.

I then found this person on facebook.........should I reach out and try to contact her? I really want this job and I feel like I need to act quickly since I have the other job offers pending.

I think if you want to contact her, you should try to catch her at work. I equate contacting her through her personal, social, facebook account to calling her at home. I think it croses a professional line and would not help you. But maybe others here see it differently.

Being a facebook creeper is not a good way to get a job. Do not do that.

Totally agree with the other posters, Facebook creeping is not at all a good way to get a job.

Thank guys.....my gut was saying "inappropriate" but I guess I needed confirmation!

I would be highly offended if someone contacted me on Facebook foe something like this.

I want to know how you have gotten back into critical care after being gone a few years. I would like to go back to critical care but here in Washington once they see you have not worked acute care for a few years forget it. Or thats what I have been told by recruiters and nurse managers yet there is a shortage here.

Where are you located ? I feel like I have boxed myself forever out of acute care and as for that reason am doing some self employment working as a proctor for testing home health aides for certification. Good for you though for coming back to nursing.

THEY CALLED...and I didn't even need to facebook anyone!!!! I just got home and there was a message on the phone!!!!! Of course everyone is gone home now...but I am so excited!

Hey Psychtrish.....I don't have any words of wisdom but I want you to know my fingers are crossed and I hope that you can find something in the acute care setting.

Take care.

Absolutely not, and it would immediately remove you from consideration if you were to contact me outside proper channels. The audacity is mind boggling.

I guess I'd say not to, if you feel squeamish.

Are you sure you want and are able to coordinate after having been off of work for a while? Aah, silly question - you know yourself.

Argo, why offended? Someone else might think she was a real go-getter, just the type of person they want to be a coordinator. It is interesting and disturbing to me that people get so angry so fast.

I once interviewed for a job and got an offer, only to get a call from the ENRAGED interviewer after the HR moron told her I had been offered another position at the facility. She failed to tell her I had turned that one down, made it sound like I had accepted it. What a mess. the point, though, is why such rage? It was a confusing situation that was easily un-confused. I guess I should be glad she showed her true colors before I started working there. I was pretty upset at the time, though, and still puzzle over it sometimes.

As a rule of thumb:

FB is strictly for SOCIAL networking outside of work.

I do not have any of my co-workers on my FB account because I keep the two separate. I would be offended if someone hunted me down on FB to ask me a "professional" question. FB is for my downtime and I chose not to discuss anything work related on FB.
