I am new to Northern VA....and are a well seasoned RN in Long term and Sub acute care...also was an EMT for 4 years and a nurse aide...I would like to know what resources to seek out to become a Nurse Aide Instructor in Northern Virginia.....I love to teach and I just need to be placed on the starting line ..do I need a instructors certificate for this? Where would I get this? ...SL ....

Not sure if the requirements are the same as here in Michigan but..

look into certification for a "Train The Trainer" certificate through your state board.

What kind of setting are you looking to work in? I ask because this will largely dictate the educational credentials likely to be required. A vo-tech type school, either community/school-district based or a for-profit trade school, will likely want at least a bachelor's degree. A community college will probably want a master's.

Check with your state regulators - a lot of states have specific requirements for people who teach CNA courses. The "certification" is granted at the state level, so you just need to find out which agency handles it for your location. Here in Tx, the regulatory agency is DADS (Dept of Aging & Disability Svcs) & they issue a certificate when you complete the training. Courses must be 'blessed' by DADS also.
