Working in the States

  1. Hi alltogether,

I am a nurse in Germany working on an Neurosurgical ICU for several years.
I took the NCLEX successfully in Minnesota last year.
Now I am looking for a Hospital which would give me the chance to work on an Neuro ICU for one year. My preference would be working somewhere on the Westcoast.
Does anyone have an idea, how I can achieve my goal?

You can go to www.hospitalsoup.com to search for hospitals. You can do it by state or city and get links to their human resources department to speak to someone. It's how I found my last job.

In Los Angeles we have Neuro ICUs at UCLA and Cedars Sinai. The nurses at both facilities have been helpful to me.
Cedars doctors more respectful of nurses and seek input.
UCLA physicians seem to be in a hurry all the time. I work registry and neuro is not my area of expertise. Despite that a patient had questions which she did not ask. The doctors at UCLA were too busy to even talk to her after they finished their rounds.

I here from UC Davis they have an excellent program. The nurses love tjeir jobs.
Cedars and Davis are Magnet hospitals.
