Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and thought I'd seek some advice. I work in England at the moment and will be seeking to come home to the States to work. I came to England to be with a friend and to try a new experience. Well, it has been an experience that's for sure. What I'm wondering is how everyone feels about their state and its work status. I've only ever worked in Arkansas as an LPN, then an RN and in Home Health. I would really like to be involved in pain clinics or in Home Health again. Anyone have any advice as to where I might look for the best advantage?

Thanks,

;)

I'll put a good word in for South Carolina. No snow.

Fairly good wages. A couple of really good medical schools. Several top of the line hospitals.

Try it you'll like it.

Well, sounds good. What constitutes fairly good wages? I'm not getting much here...about the equivalent of $15 an hour but I do get enhancements that help that somewhat.

Thanks for the reply..

There are several good pain clinics in the Balti/Wash area and I would expect starting pay to be somewhere around $25/hr. Home health I'm not so sure about, not sure I'd want to do home health in a large city.

Can't really recommend anything specific and in this point in history not even sure I should recommend the area. Might want to find a mountain state somewhere.

Can't help with pain clinics. For NJ Home health, average hourly rateis $22-$25 per hour FT, more for per diem, but per visit rates, anywhere from$30 - 40 per revisit to $50 to $75 for news, depending on agency. Some home health agencies offering bonuses, but you probably wouldn't qualify since you haven't worked with PPS I presume in the current US HH arena. They want 2 years HH experience, recent, andI assume they aretalking about in the US. Some HH agencies have Baylor plans, work 2 12 hour shifts, get paid FT and bennies. But, NJ is really crowded. We do have a nice mix of seasons, beaches, a couple of small mountains, and good universities.

Good luck with your searching.

Ah, thanks to Debbye and Hoolihan(those are hot lips!)......I worked home health until 99. Most of my people were elderly and I developed a desire to deal with geriatric pain control. Difficult subject when your doctor says...they're old, what do you want me to do? My town of origin was only about 20,000 with me driving to the surrounding communities-usually about 80-100 miles a day. Nothing like driving 100 miles only to find yourself no more than 20 miles from home!
