wish I would have caught her name

  1. I heard a story on the noon news yesterday. It was about a baby that was born on a plane over the Pacific on the way the way to Hawaii. There were two nurses on the plane who helped deliver the baby. One of them was interviewed and said, "that is what I love about this profession, every day you get to help someone". A kiss for that nurse, you can't buy that kinda of good publicity.

Actually, I think there were like 4 health care professionals there, including an OB. They put her in the galley area and used a microwave or something to heat blankets for the baby.

I heard there were 3 health care professionals. One MD (Japanese), 2 Nurses. None of them knew each other, but as luck would have it, all their department/expertise is in...........OB.

    Unusual
A Wahiawa woman gave birth aboard an airplane bound for Honolulu yesterday. KGMB reporter Jacqueline McLean was aboard the flight, camera in hand, and covered the mid-air baby story. Fortunately for the mother, there were two doctors and two nurses aboard ATA flight 755, McLean reported. One of the nurses, Kerrie VaVerka, told KGMB that the woman didn't know her due date. It turned out to be June 6, however, as a health baby boy was born at 9:45 a.m. (no time zone was specified). While the flight returned to L.A. due to the incident, the other passengers eventually arrived in Honolulu 12 hours late.

I am surprised frankly, that as pregnant as she was, they let her on board w/o a doctor's note. Even w/o prenatal care, she should have had to get SOME sort of dr note to get on that plane...... But I am SOOO glad those healthcare providers were there to help out! That was a real fortunate thing for mom and baby.
