Why So Long to Hear Back From Interview?

Interview was over two weeks ago and was told it would be two to three weeks til I hear anything. Is that just healthcare?

I have done more waiting to hear back in my 7 months of job searching. I guess its routine but it is rediculous!! And twice I have had a good interview, they call me to set up a second interview talking like they want to hurry and get me in there--then they call and end up canceling the 2nd interview and tell me--sorry we decided to go with an internal candidate. That is frustrating! A waste of my time......so I feel your pain! The waiting is the worst! Good luck to you......hope they call and offer you a job soon!!!

Had an interview with the manager and a peer review. They even gave me materials they normally give to new hires like benefits info and such. I thought everything went great. Its for a graduate nurse OR position.

Should I call at the end of the week to check my status?

Since they said 2 to 3 weeks and it has been 2+ weeks already, I see no harm in making a call to ask about the status of your application. Of course, you should continue to apply elsewhere while you're waiting.

Good luck!

At least, you guys have an interview. I don't find any success of getting one yet, still waiting for an interviiew, [sigh]

I have had 5 interviews in 6 months. ALL the interviews went well with the exception of one. Not one called me back to let me know either way. It's very frustrating.

Did they give you a business card and said to you call us if you dont hear from us? I will just call them to find out.

Wish you the best

I followed up with emails to all the ones I really wanted(state and government). The state job emailed back and said I would be getting a letter with my status. When I interviewed they said they where very interested in me(exact words) and should get a call in 5 to 10 days. That was 4 weeks ago. As for the government job, I was told when I called 5 months after the interview, that the job was mine( I applied for this one in October). They said the reason they did not call me was because there was a hold on the job and they don't know when it will start. I have started the paperwork, but I until I have an offer I will continue looking. It is the federal government. I guess the could cancel the jonb if they wanted?

I could go on and on about the the other 3, but don't want to discourage others like I have been discouraged throughout this process.

with the job I was just offered last week I waited 3.5 weeks to hear back from them. They have to check references and perhaps they are still interviewing to find the right person/fit for the job. And HR is working for all units, not just the one that you may have interviewed for, so they have to split their time accordingly.

and also-I always send a thank you card after the interview and follow up (phone call) usually a week-two weeks after the fact if I had not heard anything yet.

I glad you got the job:) I am just frustrated. I have been an LPN for 15 years and just obtained my RN license and have never had problem getting a job before. I guess I just expect the common courtesy of them calling you back and letting you know either way.
