I currently work at a Magnet hospital and I must say I love it! I can see a major difference between this hospital and non-magnet hospitals I've worked at. Nurses at my job have a voice, participate in shared governance, are encouraged to continue education and etc. I was even hired as a ADN! Each hospital has its' ups and downs but magnet strives to work through them. Happy nurses=happy patients=more money.

I've seen a couple of responses on a couple of threads that imply that working for a magnet hospital is a head-ache, or harder, or not worth it. My understanding is that the whole idea of magnet status is to provide a workplace that is *better* for nurses. How is theory colliding with reality in this situation and resulting in the impression that magnet status is a bad thing?
Simply put....because they talk the talk but they don't walk the walk.
