Have you ever wondered how are these people so rich and successful, while other people are falling. What is different about these people who are at the top of their field. what makes them different from rest of the people. why can't everyone be happy, successful and rich. And why are some people barley surviving in this cold and harsh world. Thank you:)

Some people are successful mostly because they got a GOOD education. Parents encouraged education. Extended family encouraged education. Actually it was more than encouraged, it was expected. Teachers expected the student to do what was required and more. Also all these people reinforced that the student could be whatever he or she wanted to be.

Success starts in the home and starts early. There are a few individuals who can become successful without the above but they are very driven individuals and not many young kids are that driven.

Life happens. Some people are better able to weather the trials and tribulations of life because they have a good family support system, while others have no one but themselves.

Some people make better choices in life than others. If you can stay in school, choose not to get involved in drugs, crime, gambling, drinking or being a poor single parent, you're way ahead of many other people. And some people just have bad luck.

I think success is mostly a result of sacrifice, commitment and work ethic. The sacrifice begins with parents, and to what ends they are willing to go to ensure their children's success. Commitment begins in first grade, lol. The student must be committed to academic excellence, take opportunities for extracurriculars, always keeping their eye on the prize. And that ties into work ethic, which must be lifelong. Less TV, more books! Study something for one hour every day and in 5 years you will be an expert int area. I forgot where I read that, but I think it's true. Most people aren't willing to make that commitment or work that hard, that consistently for 30 years.

I am successful because my parents provided me with the best education they could, and supplemented that with valuable life experiences, encouraged and supported me, and because I have worked exceptionally hard for 30+ years. Every successful person I know has followed a similar path.

Of course, there is also an element of risk taking and luck, but of all of these, luck is the least significant.

I think it comes from within. You can come from a great childhood, have wonderful supporting parents, beauty, intelligence, and the world at your fingertips and still manage to **** it all up.

Not sure what prompted this post. But I think a lot of it comes from parents and up bringing. Even if you had terrible parents but went to a good school, had some normal adults around you that counts for a lot. Many people like to discredit this, nothing can account for their success but their own hard work, but I don't believe it is all about yourself. Very, very, very few small children are that driven or that intelligent. Not every child reacts the same when most adults in thier life and those around them are on drugs, welfare, or in and out of jail. Your environment plays a big role in how you turn out whether people want to admit it or not. For some reason this all reminded me of the movie- Matilda. lol Also luck counts for a lot, connections, dedication, great looks, all sorts of things can give you a boost in life. Making all the right choices, even if you do not know if they are right or wrong.

I know people who's parents paid for their entire wedding. Paid for their schooling. They got an amazing job and now they can afford a house and a nice car and have children. My husband and I both had supportive families, but they could not afford to pay for anything. We paid for our own wedding, and took our loans for school (now in debt). We currently cannot afford a car or a house...we will have to budget and save and do a lot of penny pinching once I'm finished school to get ahead.

So...money. But having a house/car/money does not necessarily equal success in my mind. A happy marriage (in my case - im married), loving family and doing what you love means success to me. But it seems some people are dealt a better hand.
