Who wears orthotics as an RN?

I just got custom made orthotics (I'm a 4th year student nurse) and I hope to prevent foot problems during my nursing career by getting them now instead of waiting until I am older. I get occasional plantar fascitis and hope that this will help

Have you found that they help during a long 12 hour shift?

no orthotics here -but i am extremely picky about my shoes. I am a big fan of Dansko professionals.

I used to get good shoes, the best I could find, and then put in different "orthopedic" insoles when they needed replacing.

Then I got actual custom-fitted orthotics from a podiatrist, and now I can wear totally cheap shoes, LOL, and have my feet, legs, hips and knees feel great!

i wore orthotics for years after my knee injury. now, after my back injury, i'm wearing dansko professionals. recommended by a pt, they help both my knees and my back!

I have orthotics, I broke both of me heels 10 years ago. Had custom orthotic made 5 years ago and love them when I am on my feet for long periods of time. Only down side is not to wear them at the gym on leg days.

I wear Dr. Sholl's heel pain relief orthotics and love them. I got plantar fascitis last year and it took several months to get better and the orthotics seem to help with preventing a recurrence.

I also do some schilles stretching daily.

I'm an LPN and wear them. The time spent at the podiatrist having your feet cast for the custom fit is well worth the time and money.

I bought mine 3 years ago for $19.99. Love them. cant go with out!!

cheap ones work just as well.:bow:
