Who can give a vaccine?

Who can administer flu shots/vaccines? Is it just RNs, LPNs or CNAs or can medical assistants do it as well? I've heard so many different things.

Does a RN have to be present in the room if the staff is medical assistants?

Are there certain requirements/licenses for giving vaccines?

Guess it depends on the state. Can't see CNA's giving vacs. Here in the UK it is only RN's or doctors that can give vacs

I know the MA's at doctors offices around here give vacs, ABT's, IV's, everything. This is in NC.

In Ohio, a MA can give a vaccine in the Dr. office. In the hospital or LTC facility on the nurses give the shots, be it a RN or LPN.

I am an LVN in California and I can give vaccines. NEver ever heard of CNA's giving vaccines. I know RN's can give them and when I did my PEDS rotation it was mostly Medical Assistants in the peds office and they definitely give vaccines.
