What they call "nude" doesn't work for me! :p

I'm a black girl so I usually wear black or dark brown undies under white pants!

White pants should be banned from the universe. They make every one look like this 86stayst.jpg or this michelin-manthumb.jpg

Hee hee...I always think that!

I hate white and I swear I will never where white scrubs after nursing school :)

Whatever you wear under white scrubs, they show - even nude. And I agree, it looks unprofessional to have underwear showing.

You probably can't do this in nursing school, but white denim jeans don't show white/nude underwear at all - the material is too thick. I wear jeans at work. I hate scrub pants.

Having something long enough to cover your tush is a good idea, except when you bend, it still shows.

I actually wore a white dress uniform during nursing school (no-not in the dark ages, just 8 years ago - it was an option) . . .and you can wear a slip so your underwear doesn't show.

We were told we HAD to wear white undies. I found that nude ones work better. We had to tell our instructors that nude-colored undies work better. People of color should try to find underwear that is close to their skin tone- white is noticible on darker skin tones.

You can get smooth, nude underwear at any department store, on-line, or -my favorite - Vic. Secret. They aren't that expensive, and it's better than obvious panty-lines!

What about not wearing any underwear at all? I know my wife has certain jeans and pants she says she can't wear underwear with. Is that a possibility here? Most of the time at my work the females wear scrub tops that cover their bums so not sure if seeing underwear is an issue.

Well, under white scrub pants you'd see every freckle and pore. Not sure that is the way to go. ;)

Larry77, unfortunately, wearing no underwear is not an option for most females because to put it delicately, the lady parts is a self cleaning organ.

Sunnyjohn, you are quite right about wearing dark undergarments if your skin tones are dark. The standard nude would not work for you. The best look for everybody is to try and match your skin tone.

Self cleaning organ...OMG...ICK!!!! LOL...once again, so glad to be a male.

Funny story, when I was a new CNA many moons ago I used to wear white pants all the time and had no idea that all the girls at work were checking out my underwear. Right before I left the facility for another job two of the other CNA's approached me to inform me that they could see my underwear under my pants and asked me why I wore "tighty whiteys" some days and boxers others...I was soooooo embarrassed...never wore white pants again...he he

Unfortunately, the only pairs of nude colored underpants I can find are those that are designed for under fancy dresses, and are sooooo expensive! Anyone know where I can get some plain ole nude colored undies in a BIG pack? I start clinicals (in all white) in August.

Kohl's sells cute little boy pant undies in nude & white.....I have never worn that style and didn't think I'd like them but they don't ride up like bikinis or cut in like thongs and I love 'em. I went back and bought tons more. They worked fantastic for my clinicals....

Last week we were reissued our dress code that requires white underwear (including bra). We all protested but since this also came with a three strikes and you're out rule, we are stuck. I don't like this especiall because I am black nothning is left to the imagination. This just reminds me why I don't wear white at work now, and why I don't plan to in the future.

Is this for your clinicals, or for work? Sounds like you don't wear white at work, so the color of your undies shouldn't be an issue anyway. Could you tell them that white undies on black skin is the equivalent of a white person wearing white pants with black underwear - totally see through?

That is crazy!

Funny you say that, it wasnt until the last semester in nursing school that someone let me in on the nude panty secret, It never dawned on me to try that I just assumed that white was the best under white, now if someone could just show me how to put on mascara without blinking I will be all set :)

OK, in order to put on mascara without blinking, you

1. kick all the kids, dogs, and hubby out of the bathroom, and

2. relax your jaw.

Yes, it looks weird, putting your eyes on with your mouth hanging open, but it really works to relax your eye muscles as well.

Got that tip from a fashion mag many years ago and it's never failed me. ;)
