Which NCLEX review books are worth the $$?

Hi all!

I am starting my ADN program next month. I am looking into picking up a review book or two for the NCLEX for RN. Does anyone have suggestions? There are so many books? Kaplin? Lippincott? Saunders? AHHH!

Thanks so much, Jan

I think it'd be better to wait and use Kaplan in your last semester to prepare for the NCLEX since it is the one that specifically is geared toward NCLEX prep and the questions are mainly priority and they literally have four right answers and you have to pick it out.

I should have mentioned in my first post that I only took the Kaplan course after I graduated nursing school, in order to prepare for the NCLEX. I can't recall if I used a book to help me study during school.

There is actually a Kaplan NCLEX review book.

Yeah, I had that as part of the course. It was a self study program where you go to the center as much as you'd like and listen to CDs, take computer generated tests and study from the review book. The course was a bit on the expensive side, and you have to be self motivated to get the most out of it. I think it helped me a lot. I think any type of preparation makes you feel so much better about walking into the boards.

I've been thinking about it, and I did have some sort of NCLEX review book during school, but I can not remember which one. I do remember it helped me a lot when I was taking school exams.

I'm gonna look into taking a Kaplaan course when the time comes.

Has anyone ever done Hurst? It seems to be popular here where I live.
