A couple days ago my NM asked if I would like to be a member of a council to represent our floor.
She said I could either be on the Education Council or the Informatics Council.
Has anyone had any experience in being a member of these two? I'm not really familiar with Informatics. What does this entail?

Informatics is all about the 'clinical information systems' you use... electronic medical record/charting, on-line references, Pyxis, etc. I find it very interesting. As a member of the Informatics council, you will probably be 'in the know' about any planned changes & asked to provide input. You may also be asked to help train your co-workers when changes are made.

I chair our informatics council and like to have every unit represented by a staff/floor nurse. Councils have a tendency to be management heavy which leads to a dearth of info from those most impacted by change. This is especially true in informatics.
And yes, you will know about any changes to your computer system waaaay before your co-workers.

Thanks for the info! Informatics does sound interesting. I think I'm leaning more towards that one. :)
