What's In Your Staff Bathroom?

I know this isn't a life-or-death concern, but I'm sick of all the work related crap (see what I did there?) in the staff bathroom. Some days I hardly have time to go pee, but when I do I don't want to see the latest falls statistics, or an advertisement to get my MSN, or some stupid poster about CAUTI's. I guess my favorite one lately is a poster on the door about how to prevent C-diff - in the employee bathroom! Seriously, do they think we're in there trying to spread C-diff to our co-workers?

I remember when we used to have magazines, or funny pictures of cats trying not to pee on themselves, in the staff bathroom, along with a few tampons and sometimes an Avon booklet. That way we could have 5 minutes without being attacked by hospital business. When did all that change? What's in your staff bathroom?

One bathroom has nothing but the fixtures, the other has a "learning poster" on the door just above eye height when sitting...... It's the same info that's in the newsletters, on the login page of the computer and is sent into every employees email. It changes about monthly.

During the winter holidays it was on managing stress, then it was c-diff, now its on eating healthy.

edited to add: there is no place to put a magazine or Avon book in our bathroom, except the floor.

We have a cork board filled with flyers and posters. Don't ask me why some of the posters about wound care are there and nowhere else. I had a student with me last week and I went and took down a poster for one of the wound care ointments (it had do's and don'ts on it). I wanted to go over it with the student since it was applicable to the patient. Other nurses on my unit didn't even know it was there and didn't know we couldn't use a specific dressing with that particular ointment (which was stated on the poster). I think they could find a better spot for the stuff.

We we have a second bathroom we can use and there is absolutely nothing in there. I think it's the bathroom most people prefer.

We currently have an educational poster about "asymptomatic bacteriuria"...man I could tell you all about it since it's all I read whenever I pee.

The last staff bathroom I was in had a poster about abuse and cards from the women's shelter inside every stall. Think they know something about their audience?

(I work out of a home office and I share my bathroom with the cat's litter box.)

At my last clinical job, there was a chart showing who wasn't in compliance with the 'flavor of the week' mandate. Also, a poster about dependent foley loops. (I had a private joke about these with one of my intensivists- he signed it on my last night and I have it framed in my office!)

I forgot to post about my favorite poster in the john. It's all about what to do if we develop a gambling problem. Say What!! lol I think most of us are more likely to develop a drinking problem!

I guess the male staff isn't expected to read their work-related posters (unless they're sitting for awhile). I notice, too, that the posters are always at eye level for female staff, but nothing behind the toilet for the guys. I guess they want to make sure they hit their target and aren't distracted by the fascinating minutes from the last staff meeting. ;)

Bwahahaha... that made me laugh! I hadn't thought of that, because that's true I have never seen a poster positioned behind the toilet..... In their defense though, this one is in the bathroom in the women's locker room. I should ask the guys I work with where thier's is located.
