hi to all my nurses

Whats a difference between a BACCALAUREATE DEGREE and ASSOCIATE DEGREE because i m too new to US nursing programs and i m planning to move there. From where i come from i did a 3 years course and its a diploma level but when u graduate u get a RN post straight away. so if i wanna do my BSN for nursing, which progam do i go for for full time. i m really desperate to know

thanks a million

Did you already attend nursing school in your country?

The graduation from an approved RN program in the US allows you to sit for the RN exam, called the NCLEX. Whether you graduate from a four year program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an Associate Degree program which is two years, or a hospital-based two to three year program, which is called a Diploma program here, you can sit for the same exam.

If you want a BSN, then you go to a four year program right away, or start with a two year program and advance later on.

Be aware that there are waiting lists for most programs in the US. You more than likely will not be able to start in a program here directly.

ur great. i gotta bother u again. u know i did my nursing school already. its a 3 yr thing diploma and i m planning to take the nclex. u said i gotta do a 4 year program for a bsn?? is that true even though i did a 3 yr dip program in singapore??? auzi offers 2 years full time to get a bsn?? is there such a thing there. like full time cut through the program rather than a 4 yr cos then my nursing education would be 7 years if i had to do a 4 yr program n that would be ridiculous...

thanks again for your time

Some colleges have RN-to-BSN programs that take about a year to complete, I believe. That's how they do it at my school, anyway.
