Hi There,

Just out of curiosity, what "academic" interests do you think it takes to be a nurse?

In other words.....do you have an innate interest in human A and P, in medications and in technical things like putting in iv's, etc?

Has anyone out there obtained the nursing degree in order to use it as a stepping stone to work in research or administrative work?

Thanks for your opinions!

Somehow Tweety, I reckon that a biker or transvestite nurse might unnerve a patient! :p

Probably. Heck, they unnerve me a little. :)

I have always been fascinated with anatomy and physiology, and pathophys. I read books on these subjects just for fun when I was a teenager, and when I was working in my first career, which was manufacturing.

My mother worked as a sec'y for a lab and morgue for years when I was growing up. I was enthralled with her work-place.

My MIL started put as a diploma RN, and now is an RN, PhD, CNS. She is a researcher, and has been called to testify as an expert witness in court cases.
