What should I do now that I have been kicked out of my clinical class and called a Muslim? - page 11

I'm in a BSN program and was passing all my classes, including 1 clinical that I had a "B" in. During clinical last week, I had an "NPO" patient request water. I was in the room with at least 5 other... Read More

OK. At first I felt sorry for the OP. However, judging by the OPs previous topics, immature responses, and far fetched statements it is best we stop feeding this post. Admins??
I only give the same level of maturity that the others on this site give to me. What did I say that is far fetched? Feel free to report me though.

Dude, what has holding yourself to the same standards as everyone else gotten you thus far? Hold yourself to higher standards and stop blaming.

Anyone know how to block people on this site? You are probably the person I have had the most trouble with because you accused me of forcibly taking a cup from a female and being aggressive or intimidating. People on on here are trying to gather info on careers and life choices. Your personal attacks are counter productive and toxic. Please stop. I may a be a man but I'm a girly gay man.

Have you checked your Criminal History post? I just gave you a sound comment based on experience, not related to this whinging diatribe of your's. Next time, you need to add a disclaimer *** sad emojis only *** Then maybe you won't meet any opposition. It's childish to try and shut people down just because they don't agree with you.

Let's break this up into the two issues: your clinical performance and the name calling.

Clincal: you were kicked out because you gave the patient water and the patient was NPO. Simple as that. A sip of water is not the same as ice chips because the amount of water in a volume of ice chips is far less than the same volume of water as liquid. If you were unclear as to whether the sip would have been OK, or even what NPO stood for, you should have clarified that with your patient's nurse and/or your CI before giving it.

And no, it would not have been a stupid question: the only stupid questions are the ones that aren't asked but should have been.

As for why it was just you and not any other student...well, I wasn't there so can only go by what you tell us. And we all know there's three sides to every story: yours, theirs, and the truth, which could be related to either, both or neither side. So I can't say why you were failed and the other wasn't. But to be honest, if you appeal this grade, focus on you. Using another student and saying, "but they..." won't help your case much, especially since this appeal is about YOUR performance, not the other student's.

The name calling: if you feel you were being unfairly discriminated against for your race, culture, and/or religion, then you should by all means file a grievance. For this, I would suggest the assistance of an attorney. But I wouldn't hold out too much hope that filing such a grievance would cause the failure to be overturned, because the reason you failed isn't due to your being in any protected class. It's due to you giving a NPO patient water.

    Best of luck.
