I am just curious what kind of patient you would be. I have visions of letting the residents cut up my meat. Having the housekeeping actually clean my room. Ear plugs for every patient or at least a machine that provides white noise. Food catered from bruger's bagel for breakfast, and a fancy restaurant for dinner (skip lunch I will be taking a nap). :coollook:

Actually, I have been a patient more recently than a nurse--I try very hard not to bug anyone unless I really need something. I have even changed my bed linen when able. The only stipulation that I have is that I have a PRIVATE room. :balloons: I don't want a screaming roommate to interupt my only time without kids. (LOL) I have had confused elderly roommates that have made the 36$ day worthwhile.

I have recently been one. I was good---except I insisted on getting out of bed too early and the dr was NOT happy. I just HAD to get up and walk to relieve the gas in my abdomen------

Other than that I tried NEVER to ring my light unless I was in dire need.

I'm betting I would be horrible. So...I avoid doctors like the plague.

Bad patient here...because I was trying to be a good patient. I didn't want to call out for pain meds (tylenol for abd. pain), because I was afraid they'd think I was drug seeking, or I didn't want to bother them for something so small....I am my grandmother. :lol2: (This was in the ED when I thought I had another ovarian cyst, which always happens on the right side...so I always have to have them r/u appendix issues) Also, if I don't feel well, I get GRUMPY! Ah well...hopefully I won't be a patient in a hospital for a while. -andrea

I'm afraid that I would be a horrible patient in terms of wanting to know everything. My chart would probably be my bedtime reading!

I would however try to group my needs together so I wouldn't have to call for help too often and I would want to have a family member or friend with me all the time!

I've taken care of many nurses over the years. Really, to me, they don't seem any different than any other patient. One was the active nursing supervisor of the ED of a local hospital (and a friend of my NM :uhoh21: ) in for valve surgery. Her friends (all RN's) stayed quite a bit in the room and they were a hoot! I was a little nervous (still relatively new), but her experience was good and I got her extubated within a great time-frame and had her pain under good control (like with all my patients!). Just THANK GOODNESS all went smoothly. Her friends fed us the first night and she sent a nice letter of thanks and a little gift a few weeks after discharge!!

I would probably be undemanding, but somewhat non-compliant.

I've been a patient for most of my life, and I'm horrible. I react to alot of drugs, and have been known to destroy OR's and smack staff around. DH is an RN, and he takes care of me now. Poor guy.

I ve always been a pretty good pt until I went to Nursing school. Now..I know stuff...... :D

I've never been a pt. I even gave birth to my 6 children at home. I'm deeply distrustful of doctors and the medical system.

I have been a patient many times in the past year and I think I was a pretty good patient. I didn't call the nurse for stuff I could do myself and I stayed in bed and slept like a good little girl. I tried to cooperate with all they asked me to do and didn't complain about anything.
