What is your sure-fire ENERGY tip???

  1. Hi everyone--
As everyone here knows well, nursing nowadays is rigorous, like being in boot camp. You come on the floor running, barely have time to eat or pee, and are busy every second of the shift. In fact, you feel BEHIND no matter how fast you go. What is a real bummer is coming to work all ready feeling tired and worn out. I would appreciate any tips on how to be and feel more ENERGETIC (other than caffeine and chocolate .

I always try and get at least 7-8hrs of sleep every night, eat a healthy/balanced diet (eat breakfast), drink plenty of water, (I also start my day with a cup of coffee), and I exercise on my days off.

Ditto to Julie. Try fresh vege juice and yoga - I sometimes can get a few yoga stretches in on my break. By the way, I GET my breaks. I don't say that I don't need them, I just take them!

I put out a pitcher of ice water on the counter for everyone to help themselves and guzzle a little as often as I can, makes a huge difference and I haven't had headaches to end my shift since I started. I also make sure I get to eat when I feel hungry because the lack of blood glucose makes me go much less effective, things take twice as long.

Red Bull is a great energy drink. But I think it may be illegal in the US.

SHOOT you just eliminated my two primary suggestions!
Well, how about listening to music that gets your juices going before coming into work? Whatever your favorite is- rock and roll, R & B or praise and worship. Slide those tunes in the CD or tape player in the car and JAM all the way to work!
    My two cents
