What is a missile wound?

What is a penetrating missile wound? I have done some searching around and found description of gunshot wound. This is in a section of material discussing Amnestic Disorder.

It is usually a piece of shrapnel or something else that became a projectile because of a strong force. A missile will shatter when it hits, and things go flying everywhere.

If I remember correctly it can be a bullet, arrow, stick, anything that can be launched into something.

It is usually referenced to as a penetrating wound caused by an object being propelled, as a GSW,"missle wound" would be to misunderstood, be more descriptive.

I wish to ammend my previous statement to include that missile wounds are generally round in nature such as bullet injuries, the wounds are round in shape. This can vary of course with injuries such as those caused by explosive shrapnel which can have very jagged wound edges. But the missile was the bullet in the article you were reading.

thanks - this is helpful.
