The standard advice during interviews when this question comes up is to pick a mild fault and put a positive spin about how you are dealing with it successfully. I suspect interviewers foolish enough to ask this question hear a... Read More

My honest answer: I will not kiss the ass of doctors, managers or mean girls and if they yell at me I am likely to call them on it without ever involving you or any other higher up.

I still believe in nursing as a profession and am protective of my license, so if you put me in unsafe situations I AM going to be both vocal and proactive about it.

I have an idealistic girl-next-door vibe to me that tends to make both coworkers and managers think I am both naive and unlikely to stand up for myself and the disavowal of this impression has never been pleasant for anyone. I don't take crap from patients or their families and I have no trouble at all saying the hard thing that nobody else is willing to say. However, the above girl next door thing makes my customer service scores off the charts high and I get away with a lot of things that others can't.

"you're hired"! (I'm confused why you wouldn't want to say this - Love it)

I guess because all of that is a convoluted way of saying "I don't lay down, not for policy, not for politics, not for beaurocracy and not for jerks." or otherwise known as "I can have a big mouth and make your life difficult because I am not a yes person".

Maybe I'm an odd manager but I love a someone who refuses to play games and will just tell it like it is. I may not like it but at least I know what I got! I'd hire your attitude in a heart beat.

    My answers would be:
    - "I am scared of dead bodies so I hope none of my patients die on me. That doesn't happen in hospitals does it? I hope not."
    - "My time management sucks at this stage, and I'm still waiting for it to improve."
    - "I like my sleep, a lot of sleep. So I'm just hoping this job won't interfere with my sleeping schedule"

My weaknesses are pretty much identical to yours, OP.

Work smarter, not harder is one of my lifelong mottos, and it stems from that ever present lazy streak I have that will probably never go away.

I will consider calling into work every day (at least momentarily), just because I don't want to get out of bed.

I hate confrontation because I hate rejection/burning bridges, so I'll either let myself be walked on or I'll disappear without saying a word.

I'm a perfectionist. Not the cool type that scrubs the linoleum with a toothbrush every day. The unproductive type that gets so overwhelmed with the idea of doing everything perfectly that I give up before I even get started, or waste all my time planning.

If you make a rule a don't agree with, I'll probably break it at some point. Even if I don't organically want to. Just on principle.

1.) my brain mouth filter frequently doesn't work.

2.) I expect everyone to do their job. Unless you would like to forward their paycheck to my account.

3.) I will find the easiest possible way to do a task (safely of course)

4.) I tend to be drawn to ctd patients even when they aren't mine. (The middle numbers of my RN license are 666) so, it has been a running joke as long as I have been there. I work a fairly stable post op floor, and had 2 pts code in 4 days. Then 2 days later had to do CPR Check off. Both pts survived, I did real life check off

5.) talk to me crazy, then don't be surprised by my response!

    1) I don’t socialize at work. And it’s nothing personal. I just prefer not to **** where I eat if you get my meaning.

    2) I’m a problem solver. If you’re looking for someone to support your view that Suzy is a raging ***** with no business keeping her job, go to someone else. If you sincerely want to brainstorm a solution to your recent falling out with Suzy, I will do my very best to help you find one.

    3) I am not afraid of confrontation. I consider it to be useful and necessary. This is often mislabeled as aggression by those who ARE afraid of confrontation.
