what color is your scrub-achute?

Yes, I am old enough to remember when we all wore white. Some dinosaurs even wore their caps. Then a few years later, we were allowed to wear colored scubs. Yay! Colored scubs are fun! Except now the pendulum is swinging back. Now the scrub colors are unit specific. Boo. Some places even require that you get the hospital's name and RN/LVN embroidered on it. Well, ladeda.

So if your hospital requires a certain color for nursing, what color is it? And do you like this or did you like wearing any old scubs better?

Nurses wear a dreary drab wine color in my LTC.

In my old LTC the nurses wore navy blue. CNA's wore olive green, and the med aids wore pink (if male beige)

At the hospital I work in Nurses wear navy pants and white tops. Techs wear all navy. Housekeeping wears tan and maroon and RT wears green. I like it because it helps patients and families know who does what.

RN/LPN wear navy blue

NA, scrub techs, OR RN's, phleb, and RT wear teal

Phleb and RT are allowed to wear maroon, too (although I'm sure one was suppose to wear one color and the other another color)

I went to Cleveland Clinic recently and the RN's all wear white. I have never been a fan of white for myself, but damn they looked sharp! I guess they get what's the equivalent to 3 pairs of scrubs a year free, so ....

in the assisted living i work at we arent aloud to wear scrubs. its business casual so its not so institutionalized but i love wearing scrubs, they are comfy and you can have bright fun colors, or designs, now i dont think thats too institutionalized.

I just heard last night that we're going to have a uniform where the NA's wear a certain color, the RN's and LPN's etc and heard on the psych units they are already wearing them. I wished they would have warned us sooner, I just went and bought a ton of new tops and pants and jackets in May and I just ordered a new jacket two days ago!

Once worked at a place where the new owners said they were going to provide all employees with two free tops, we were given the choice of color. Never came about.

At the LTC that I worked in a few years ago, they woke up one day and implemented the uniform thing. The nurses wore navy blue (no distinction between RN and LPN, we didn't have that many RNs anyway), the CNAs wore solid green pants (they actually said olive green but people wore colors ranging from olive to neon green, it was funny) and any type scrub top; maintenance wore company blue shirt and khaki pants, I think housekeeping wore yellow scrubs and med aides wore wine scrubs. The nice thing about it was that on Fridays we could wear jeans as long as what we wore on top was the company shirt (which they sold to us $10 a piece).

Fortunately, the hospital I'll be working in now has no such uniform rules, all they want is that you look clean and professional. And I much prefer that!:nurse:

At the LTC where I work, the nurses wear dark green, the CNAs wear light green, housekeeping is khaki, and dietary is black and white. Green is my favorite color, but after wearing it everyday it may not be anymore..lol :)

At my facility, other departments have specific scrub uniforms. Environmental services wear green with burgundy striped polo shirts, dietary wears burgundy shirts with black slacks and a black cap. In nursing services, the CA's have to wear a royal blue scrub, but the RN's can wear any scrubs of their choosing. I'm going to start wearing white, I think...!

At the hospital where I work everyone is color coded based on their jobs. While it's not the most fun to have no say in what color you where, I definitely think it simplifies things for all staff since you can tell at a glance what anyone's role is. The colors are:

RN: Light blue and/or white

LPN: Royal blue

CNA: Burgundy

Lab: Black/red

Transport: Green

HUC: Beige

Nurse Extern: Burgundy bottoms/white tops
