What are the "private forums" you get...

If you upgrade your membership, what exactly are the private forums like that you get access to? Would someone, maybe a mod., be able to give a basic description of what they are?

I'm considering upgrading, but being somewhat cheap, I like to know what my money is getting me. ;)

That's what I'm referring to.

I'm not trying to give anybody a hard time. I just wanted to know what this was.

I just found the link to this "private premium forum". It appears as a link right under this notation on the comparison chart, but I suppose you will only see the link once you're a member. I simply saw it as an area where premium members can congregate.

I was a premium member for a short while a couple years back, when they offered a special for only $10/year. Now as an unemployed new grad I don't have extra money lying around, but maybe when I find a job I will upgrade. I have gained a lot from this site and it's good to give something back, even if the membership perks are things I could live without.

Hey Leslie. Thank you for the thread. As much as I'm on this site, I have also been thinking about upgrading my membership. I do have a question though that is not covered in that link. It says you can change your user name. Well, I would like to do that every 30 days or so...but when you change your user name will all the threads you posted under the previous user name be visible under the new user name for all to see? I am just asking this question because I have some paranoia, lol. What if someone from work finds out who I am and decides to read all my threads. I know that would probably not happen, but I've heard of some members that have had this happen...especially if you post a great deal on this site.
I changed my username after passing NCLEX. I used to post under my real first name, which made me way too identifiable, especially since I used to post in my school thread. If someone is really determined to unearth my identity they can still do so by reading my old posts, but at least I don't give it away at first glance.

ah...ok, i know what you're referring to now.

i didn't even think of it, since i never use it.

it's a forum in an's central....i'll try to link it.

allnurses-Central - Family, Politics, and Entertainment

imo, you really get the most bang for your buck, in utilizing an's, an's-central, and the extra perks as stated in the link.

i get free membership, r/t being a guide but did pay premium then platinum membership, up until then.

it was well worth it.

as others have said, i get much more from this site, than what i've ever paid into it.

to me, it's just a way of being supportive and grateful.:)

sorry for delay in response, skittle.

i hesitated in responding since others (accurately) answered your question.

i have to say, it's highly unlikely that anyone will find out who you are, if you're intent on changing your username q 30 days.

i'm not a betting woman, but would actually put money on it...that you're safe.;)

Thanks, that's what I was talking about (though I couldn't see the link ;)).

Definitely something to think about.
