Weird question... what do you all think?

I just earned my CMSRN and need to turn my "congrats!" letter and certification card in to my HR office, and they will make me a new nametag that has My Name, RN.. and then under that, CMSRN.

Nurses who have their BSN's also get to have BSN on their tags under their names. Since I have a BA, shouldn't I get to wear that on my nametag? I mean, it really isn't a big deal... but I'm kinda proud of my bachelor's degree and most people that I work with don't even know that I have one. I know it really doesn't pertain to my job much, but OTOH we have the "clinical ladder" at work and anyone who has a bachelor's degree in anything, can use that towards their clinical ladder.

I haven't even asked them yet, so it isn't like they said no. But do you all think I'm lame for even wanting it on my nametag?

Absolutely not! Get it on your name tag. Take a copy of the bachelor's diploma with you as well, if they need proof. Congratulations on your achievement!

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

I don't think it's lame and it won't hurt to ask. If it's part of your clinical ladder it's reasonsable to ask it be on your nametag.

Congrats! Only 27 percent of American citizens possess a bachelor's degree or higher, so be proud and go ahead and tell the HR office about it. :)

I would definately put it on your badge. You worked hard for that degree and should be able to IMHO. Congrats!!

We just rec'd magnet status but while we were appling for it one of the things that we (as in Nurses) had to do is get new name badges made with all of our credentials even if it wasn't a nursing degree.
