When you hope the medication is enough.

When you hope your touch is enough.

When you hope your nursing skills are enough.

When you kiss them on the forehead and say "I love you"

When they reach out for your hand and say they love you too.

When they tell you the pain has gone away.

Then I know I've done enough.

Then I know I can take a moment for myself

And old as **** frail elderly resident in the nursing home I work in who was half dead the other night and has no family but the people who take care of her.

OP's post illustrates serious boundary violations. I can understand how this could be a tremendous source of moral distress in LTC when nursing staff may become surrogate "family" for their clients. Hopefully, the organization is providing support and guidance as needed.

I think his/her post once read "old as hell" frail elderly resident, which does not sound too bad...

But the OP claims to specialize in psych nursing -- psych nurses, more than any of the rest of us, should be tuned in to boundary violations ... Yikes.

I'm just wondering about all the hashtags. As far as I know, AN doesn't work like Twitter or FB with regards to the use of hashtags.

And I am not a fan of glurgy stuff like the OP that presents nurses as martyrs or saints or angels of mercy.

omg no. I don't know what's with all the # signs, maybe it's a code I don't know lol, but you have some severe boundary issues on the table here. Unless you are actual family with the person you are talking about you have no business kissing him anywhere and telling him you love him. Really crossing the line.
