I was a med tech in the USAF for 4 years at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB, Tx for 4 years, then I did 3 years in the NC Air National Guard while I used my GI Bill to get my BSN.
Now I work as a staff nurse and have no ties to the military anymore.
    Thanks,
    Julie
Oh, the memories... USAF medic (medical service specialist).. Vietnam Era.
Lackland AFB 1970, on to Shephard AFB for med tech schooling... then off to work at USAF Hospital in Wiesbaden Germany.

After completion of my tour there, joined the AF Reserves for two years... in medical air evac.

Started nursing school prereqs several times after that, using my GI Bill.. along came the kids and the "rest of the story"... just FINALLY last year managed to accomplish what I started out to do so many moons ago !

Kool ! When was that? (if I'm prying, disregard)

I also happened to grow up in Wiesbaden... lived there most of my life until I came to the States in '69... then joined the AF in '70 and got stationed right back home.... loved it !

oh... ok. Yes, the Hospital, and all of Lindey Air Station was turned back over to the Germans. Kinda sad... have lots of childhood memories... my Dad worked at Lindsey Air Station all the years we lived there... used to go to USAF Hospital myself as a child for annual physicals, vaccinations, etc. Then when I was a medic there, I even got to care for my Dad there as a patient when they found out he had lymphoma....

    Lots of memories.
