Well I put up a good fight but I give in I am going to quite ! I am not going to recount all the details but due it all hit the fan today :crying2: Two weeks or so ago I was in an car wreck on the my way to work I hurt my shoulder and ended up with disks pressing on my spinel cord causing me to lose some felling in my hands and legs .

I work on the 2nd floor and my office has no elevator so yesterday after almost killing my self on the step trying to more or less craw up them at this point it I had had anuff and told my boss it was hard for me to walk up the steps . today I was called down to HR and told that they where going to fire me today for messing up ( due to a medical problem I have control of ) but because they "love me" they are going to give me a job down stairs :yeah: sounds good right ? the problem is I have to take a pay cut ,I am also being made to work 40 hours when I olney work 32 now and I have to be there at 7:00 am (i have no ride at this time ) I also am NOT soppiest to lift anything heavy ,use my bad arm ,or stand up for to long ! I am in quite a lot of pain and the idea of having to be up for 8plus hours a day is killing me . they also told me I was in bad standing and would never be rehired ? and they cut off my health care with 4 days notes  thank god I have medicare as a backup .

well thats my vent ,please not cracks on the spelling today :)I always said I would go back to school if I lost my job but how in the world am i going to do that now ??

Wow, I'm sorry. That sounds awful.

Do you have doctors orders not to climb stairs and abstain from lifting? I'm pretty sure they can't fire you or demote you because of a disability... I would consider seeking legal counseling on the subject.

they accommodated your condition & you refused. any unemployment should be ruined & you deserve it!

I have asked to change jobs befor this happened and was told no . this morning I had gone in and asking around about the doctors note put no one seemed to know what hr would do .

How is moving my work time to a time I can not be there , cuting my pay , and zapping my health care accommodation ? would you deal with that ?

well ok. If they refused to put you in a position that would allow you to bus, then you have a case to justify unemployment. I don't think the rest of your reasoning will do you any good.

Can I ask what your former position was?

DO NOT QUIT. DO NOT QUIT. Please get a lawyer.

If you quit you will be totally unable to collect unemployment.

Where are your doctor's notes? I truly do not understand the part about cutting out your health benefits, and if you have medicare then aren't you covered for most things anyway?

Get a lawyer, please!!

Best wishes.

Wow! You are very cold hearted! Where is your compassion and this for a fellow coworker! I don't get these unkind comments from fellow nurses, isn't compassion supposed to be one of the qualities of a good nurse?

".....& you deserve it!"

WTH is that supposed to mean? Awfully quick to call a judgement on something about which you know very little. You ought to rein in that attitude a little.

Ok, I admit that wasn't compassionate BUT I've had many run ins with unemployment. I have a very good idea what they go for and they don't. I'd say I'm being realistic. That's all.
