We had a VA nurse recruiter come to our class today to pitch their valor student program. Is anyone familiar with this? You are paid 80% of starting RN salary while you are still a student, and able to do things you have been signed off on in school, i.e. start IV's, hang IVPB, etc. I am just wondering about the VA atmosphere in general, as it always seems to have had a negative association with it. Are all the pts. bitter homeless alcoholics? Or does it sound like a worthwhile opportunity? She said no post-grad committment is required at this time, though if you are already committed to another facility after graduation they won't take you, so I'm not too sure about that one. Any advice / experiences appreciated!
