Just wanted to update everyone who was kind enough to help me with this topic! For some reason my thread was abruptly closed before I could update you all on what the RT (respiratory therapist) told me.
As I said earlier in the thread I was going to call the medical equipment supply company and see what they said. While waiting for them to call me back, I got another comment stating that I was putting the nasal cannula on wrong and I asked then how should I be doing it? Thats when my thread got closed b/c they were thinking I was asking for medical advice?
Well what I actually DID was ask the RT about everything that everyone mentioned to me. And she described the correct techniques to put the nasal cannual on the baby, she also verified that I am in fact doing it correctly and the best way for her age. And she stated that the sensor can NOT burn the baby, she said that is a common misconception. It can however cause what looks like a bed sore if left in the same spot too long. She recomended changing sites every 8 to 12 hrs. She also said I should call the Dr. and ask for an order of Duoderm and Tegaderm so that the insurance might pay for it, otherwise I could check at Walgreens.
So I wanted to thank everyone who responded to me (except the admin who closed the thread) Because wether your answer was right or wrong, it did lead me in the right direction. I did call who I needed to call, and because of your suggestions, I was able to ask all the right questions. Thanks to you, I learned some things that I may never have known.
Thank you all again!
