University of Rochester vs. Johns Hopkins University Accelerated Masters Program

Hello,

I applied to University of Rochester and Johns Hopkins University and got accepted to both. I was pleasantly suprised to here that I was accepted into the Direct Entry Program for JHU, but now i have a decision to make and am not sure which one to pick. I know that JHU has the name to back it up and is ranked 4th in the country. I am interested to here what people have to say and i will apprectiate any feedback that can be left in helping me make this decision. Thank you.

welcome to my world. I am in the exact same boat as you...and was told I have until Feb 2 to reply to University of Rochester. I've visited Hopkins in Baltimore and liked the area but have not been to University of Rochester (although I have heard great things about it)...the programs seem pretty parallel (I applied for FNP) but am not sure if I'm able to fork over the extra cash for Hopkins...It is a tough decision, and I wish I could tell you what I've decided!!

Well Johns Hopkins is much more renown than URochester is. Well at least in Asia/Asian-American culture it is. If cost isn't consideration, I would def. go to Johns Hopkins.

Hi! I'm wondering what you both decided? I'm looking into Rochester. The cost is insane! I was told that the total cost for everything was about $73,000. Do people who go to these programs have an independent source of funding? How do you justify these costs as opposed to a state school? Is the caliber of education enough to justify the cost? Any opinions would be so helpful!

To Lindsay2228:
I'm pretty sure if you are in a DEP, the first part of the program (where you study for and obtain your RN) counts as graduate school, and therefore you are eligible for graduate school funding (i.e. federal student loans)...
