to union or not to union?

by spin99

hi! can anyone tell me the best way to let my co-workers know that i am not interested in unionizing? i don't feel it is right for me. they are causing more harm than good. this union is only for the rn's, and we are being laughed at by other departments. i am ashamed and i am not even for the union. any advice would be helpful even if it is from the union stand point.

Simply say no giving the reasons you sited. If they shun you so what. You're there for the patients not to make friends.

I was aksed if I wanted to join a top secret movement to unionize and I said no. The main reason was I didn't want to join a secretive group. They were so afraid management would find out and fire them and I didn't want any part of that. Firing would be illegal anyway.

Good luck.

To unionize or not to unionize
thats is the question
whether tis nobler in the monids of men and women.
to face the arrows etc etc etc

Just say hell no I wont do it.
unions are a dictatorship of the mediocre.
they help the mediocre
they hinder those who excel

pure plain and simple

Honesty is best.
I would, if true, let those for the union know I like them but am not interested.

I was a teamster once. Never helped us except to get us a nickel raise in 3 years. Was a waste of money.

If you don't want to join, don't. You don't owe an explanation to anyone but yourself.

<If you don't want to join, don't. You don't owe an explanation to anyone but yourself.>

Personally speaking, going with the all-RN-only union was the best thing we ever did for ourselves. Why anyone would laugh at you for that I cant imagine. Would they laugh at the doctors for not being in the same professional group as the electricians? Anyway, I agree with the above too. Just say no. If youve made an informed decision, your choice is your own. You dont owe anyone an explanation.

If you're not interested and don't think it's the best thing for you, you don't have to do it, and you don't owe ANYONE one WORD of explanation for your reasons. If they're afraid that management is going to find out, it doesn't say much for their chances of being very effective. And I agree with Tom, most people who excel DON'T need them.
