UK nurse going to Florida - advice please

  1. I have been offered work in Hollywood, Florida, am currently working in UK. I've applied to sit NCLEX, but have been qualified for 14 yrs so lost touch with certain specialities. Any advice from anyone who's been through this would be appreciated, or from anyone working in that area. Keen to know any differences between UK and US nursing.
    Thanks

First let me tell you Florida has one season, HOT,HOT,HOT. In Hollywood, you have a high risk of hurricanes also. A big experience if you have never experienced this. Second, unless you really are intent upon moving, there are many good hospital around UK. I don't know if they do not have much to offer there, but here in Florida, we are at a critical level of nursing shortage, so you will have a hard road ahead, I know because I'm traveling it. Good Luck.

i am very interested in your comments - please expand. The nursing (and finance) shortage here in UK is extreme - not helped by poor rates of pay and high cost of living. Please define the road you are travelling - UK to US or always worked in US? Please reply.
