UH Manoa vs. HPU- Nursing schools

Updated Sep 03, 2009 at 02:19 PM by ctekholm

I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Its my second semester at Kapiolani CC and I want to make sure that I make the right decision on which nursing school to apply to the two main 4 year universities I'm looking at. I've done my research on UH Manoa and HPU. I know that price wise, UH is the way to go. I hear that at HPU puts out better nurses, because in hawaii, most places would hire the HPU grad rather than the UH grad. But also I hear that the UH nurse is better prepared for work after the NCLEX-RN. So, I'm not sure what the facts are.
Something that I'm also considering is which is best to admit into, which has an easier, less stressful time to enter. Because from what I hear, some people have been having issues with getting HPU's pre=reqs for nursing school done since they change the requirements frequently. Please let me know! And what are the requirements for UH's nursing school? I know its the NLN rather then the NET but anything else.
I need to make the right choice. Mahalo!
