In just 2-3 days of OJT, you can be a pediatric nurse at Tenet. That's the plan! Grrrrr. Hope the nurses win this fight. As nurses, we all know that peds is another world. Nothing like adults and very specialized. How dare this hospital think that all they need to do is provide minimal training and magically the nurses will be pedi nurses. Ugh:(

Seems like we got about a weeks training when TPTB wanted half our floor to be changed to Children's and our staff cut. Our NM stood up to the suits and said GIVE US the patients and we WILL take care of them.........
SO for about a year we were half ortho and half Childrens.....no new construction dividing line l only the imaginary one.....different charting, assessing etc and getting used to peds dosing and IV. Guess what we did really well. Our floor would be FULL and the Childrens unit would be nearly empty.
