Types of jobs

I am wondering what types of job options there are in nursing other than traditional bedside nursing. I am not opposed to working on a Med-Surg floor or anything, but I am definitely interested in using the scientific knowledge I learned in nursing school while getting a bachelors degree. I have been thinking maybe research would be a good option?

I am currently employed at a nursing home so I think my view may be jaded, I don't like simply passing medications to 23 people ALL DAY, it is a boring way to spend a day, and frankly with that many patients I just don't feel 100% safe. I am looking for a job where I can do more than pass medications, and use my problem solving and critical thinking skills. Any advice or cool job options would be appreciated. I would probably be well suited for a desk job or something.
