OK wildtime, where's the start of that up and coming, great, united, new national nursing organization you speak so imminently of? Why haven't those 2.5 million nurses started one by now??? They've had about a hundred years. Have they been hamstrung by the all powerful ANA? PARALYZED. Yeah, that's it. They've been paralyzed all these years and you gonna set them free.

I agree with you. They can have any organziation dedicated to whatever they want. When are they going to get started? Why CANT they set up a new organization? whats the problem? why do they act like the ANA is stopping them. COuld it be its because they want to set up that new organziation with the same 6-7% of active nurses (now in the ANA) who are used to & know how to get things done, rather than try to start up their new organziation with the 2 million RNs that nobody has ever been able to activate in years.

The problem is that the organizers dont want to get their new organization started by organizing those 2 million. Thats too much work. And its too expensive. They dont have the numbers yet to pay enough dues to cover that expense. Its easier & less expensive to just raid established bargaining units & steal their members. But first they have to schmooze the members who can be manipulated, cause dissension, separation & confusion in the ranks & convince the members to go.

So I expect that there will be less of an effort at organizing those 2 million unorganized nurses & more of an effort at hitting on other State Associations. I predict NY will be a target because we are the largest SNA & one of the most effective nurses unions in the country. To lure us would be a major coup. But They can whistle Dixie. And head South to help all those unorganized nurses instead.

They can have their national bedside nurses union no matter what other organziations already exist. The only ones stopping them from getting it started is themselves.
