Hello everyone,

I just wanted to update you from my last post that I talked with my preceptor about my strengths and weaknesses. I chose a neutral time and it went off extremely well. She had nothing negative to say. It was awesome. I know where I need to apply myself so I'm not worried she had nothing to contribute there :chuckle

But I did assert myself when it came to a situation I would have been passed over for and I'm happy about it. One of our patients was complaining of severe pain, 10/0-10 scale and crying, rolling around in bed and wasn't due for her next pill until 1800, she had another 2 hours to wait. So after telling my preceptor about it, she started dialing and I politely asked who she was calling, the doctor? And she nodded. I then asked her, what do you think you'll ask him to do? She then told me exactly what I would have asked so when the time was right, and she had paged the doc to call her phone back, I asked her "may I speak with him when he calls, just for the practice?" No problem. When the doc called she more or less ran the phone to me and I answered and spoke with the doc. Whoho! I know I know. Getting excited about talking to my first Doc, you're all thinking BIG WHOOP. But to someone who needs to learn this stuff it was amazing!

So anyway,

Thanks for the great advice, I had my first GREAT orientation day taking care of 4 patients. It feels wonderful.
