I having been doing nursing for 2 1/2 years now. I have most of my expirence in med/surg but mostly surgery. lately I have been starting to wonder if nursing is for me. I love the caring asspect of nursing but I really hate the clinical side of it. I have come to notice how anxious I am and how much I really do not know how to do, or want to do for that matter. I was curious if anyone had a suggestion of an area I could go into where i could use my compasionate side with out all the clinical skills?

Hi good morning! Some places I might suggest are:

1. Case management

2. Risk management

3. Home health (though you certainly use clinical skills, its more of a one to one relationship.

4. Medical office.

5. Telephone triage.

I'm sure others will be along to give you more ideas. What exactly is it that you don't like? Do you feel you are stretched too thin to give good care? Is the technology part of it bothering you? That might be the first step.
