I know that something like this question has been posted before, but there weren't too many responses, so I thought I'd try again and see what I got...
Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Summer III nurse externship program at Mayo Clinic? I'm wondering how beneficial you felt it to be, the quality of support/learning opportunities provided by nurses, costs of housing, and other pros/cons. Also, I'm curious as to how competitive the program is...I have a 3.73 GPA, was a CNA at an LTC facility back home this past summer, and attend a well known nursing school. Does this sound promising, or will I just be "one of the crowd" with only a mediocre chance of getting in?
Other externship locations I'm looking at are at UPMC and Allegheny General (in Pittsburgh...as my nursing school is very near these). Does anyone have any thoughts about these?
And, the last thing, I promise
...since I'm pretty much free to go wherever (as long as housing costs/etc. aren't absolutely astronomical), does anyone know of any externships that were so amazing that they want to suggest them to me?
Thank you in advance for your help, and sorry if anyone feels like they've been absolutely peppered by questions!

I did the Mayo Clinic summer iii program last summer and absolutely loved it! they treat you well, decent pay, set you up with an apartment near by, etc. I worked on an ENT/Plastics floor, but there is so much more offered there. It was by far the best experience and job I have had and I would go ahead and apply! They look for diversity for where students come from. I am from Vermont and Maine, so not being from MN doesnt make a difference in what they are looking for in applications
