Suggestions on gift for preceptor...

I'm nearing the end of my orientation and I want to get my preceptor a really nice gift. She has been extremely invaluable and very patient with me and has truly been a mentor and has shown me the kind of nurse that I want to be. We've also become quite good friends and I want to give her something to show her how much I appreciate everything that she's done for me.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!!

Well, folks tend to appreciate stuff that is highly personalized to them rather than random stuff no matter the cost. I'd figure out what kind of stuff she likes or is into and go from there.

A $10 gift card for Starbucks or any other popular coffee place in your town is always appreciated.

I got my preceptor a Pandora bead.. she wore a Pandora bracelet. Look around and see what she likes..

a terrific note to her telling her how great she is and why (use specific pt care examples liberally) cc'd to her manager and hr.

a small work of art she can hang in her room to remember all that years later. my favorite gift was a sweatshirt with a school of fish on it:d

A gift certicate to a local spa for a pedi/manicure/ massage! Something to pamper herself with.

i gotta go back to precepting in hospitals!! :nurse:

as one of the gifts for Christmas, i got 2 of my children, a 2012 planner/calendar.

they have any/all sorts of styles, materials and applicable price ranges.

i even got one for my therapist.

since she is a devout Christian, i got her one that had passages from the bible on ea page, as well as other Christian applications in other areas of the planner.

it was very tasteful, elegant, quality, and hopefully functional for her. (i'll be giving it to her tomorrow. she was in jerusalem over the holidays.)

surprisingly, both my kids (22, 21) are using and appreciating them.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I just might try to combine them all into a little basket of stuff for her! Keep the ideas coming!!
