Nurses General Nursing

Continual turbulent times! Budget vs. good nursing care with safe outcomes! Is there anyone out there who has gone back to the old "Team Nursing" with a 'Team Leader', a 'med nurse', etc. If so, can you tell me how you are doing it and if it is successful? Also, has there been an effect on med errors, falls, etc? And are there any other suggestions? We could use some really great ideas!

The reason I have time to read up today is because the hospital who booked me for 3 12s in med surg cancelled me 5 times this week. another hospital I was sent to did team or primary - depending on howmany RNs/LPNs showed up. Last deal they wanted me to primary 10 acute teles w/ the 2 LPNs to primary 10 each and 2 aides. The Lpns refused so I followed their lead. Only one LPN was a local regular and she balked when they wanted us to do this. Then the house supv wanted me to team lead 30 telepts two of whom had fell the night before. well when I said I wanted another RN they got mad and would let me come back. And later counseled their LPN because she told me not to take report on 30 pts till the RN came in.
