Sorry for my question, i hate to ask this, but i need to know.

I don't have any experience in nursing job yet since I graduated 2003.

Now having a license, I am on job look out.I saw openings as staff nurse, charge nurse in the hospital.

Could you please, please explain to me, what particular job each is doing?

I am considering attending a refresher course first before I will be applying, but just want to

know now.

Thanks for understanding my ignorance.

Your post has been moved to the General Nursing Discussion forum so that you may hopefully accrue more responses to your questions. Good luck to you!

Specializes in Surgery.

The easy answer to your question is in the names of the positions themselves. A staff RN is on the front lines of a unit handling patient care and a charge nurse is "in charge" maintaining an overview and guiding/organizing the work that gets done each day.

As someone without any experience you will probably want to apply for the staff position unless you have a strong backround in leadership/organizational roles.

Good luck with your job search!

Thanks for that response.

Be prepared to explain why you never worked, too. I think you probably would find a job more quickly if you took a refresher course -- I am sure all your skills are very, very rusty. Agreed that you are going to need to start at the bottom (in a staff role) and get some experience.

Staff Nurse-experienced nurse or not

Charge nurse-experienced nurse (prefer 1+ years of recent experience)

Thanks for your comment.

I agree with you,my skills must be very rusty this time. But I am confident with the refresher course, I can easily gain momentum as I am the kind that is very serious in learning.

The staff position I saw in our hospital only asked for 4 months experience, I hope I would qualify.

Before getting my RN,I was an experienced nursing aide in my country which is a 2 year course.I also have a business degree and licensed, so maybe all these will be reflected in my resume.I understand that what is also relevant is the present experience after being an RN, so I will work on attending this refresher course.

Thanks for those who replied.I am still in cloud nine of passing my RN.but come now the reality of not having an experience.:clown:
