I would love to know how to do this also. Many of mine are still stiff even after being washed. I feel like screaming and ripping them off sometimes-they can get so uncomfortable!

Wash them with a cup of salt. You know, the plain 'ol cheap salt. It will preserve the color and soften the material. Use warm or hot water to make sure the salt dissolves.

Some scrubs co's are making their scrubs with the same stuff you put on your carpet so that when you dump red Kool-Aid or red wine it won't stain your carpets. The thinking is that the bacteria and viruses we deal with won't get through the scrubs. Same with blood stains, etc.

Salt will soften them but they will also make them such that blood and body fluids will stain.

Bet'cha if you dump a cup of whole blood on your scrubs NOW it won't stain. But after the salt it should soften them up a bit.

LOL... I just realized that you will be an RN in 2008! That means you are a student and in more need of cost effectiveness!

I remember those days! They are WELL worth the price! :chuckle
